Now Hiring a Communications & Outreach Specialist
We are currently seeking a part-time Communications and Outreach Specialist. This role will involve coordinating outreach efforts directed at the general public, partnering organizations, and government entities. Responsibilities include website maintenance and development, managing social media content, and promoting events.The position offers an opportunity to become acquainted with and engage in various activities of the Conservation District, such as plant sales, workshops, field days, and more. Our second annual Maple Syrup Workshop will be happening in the Community Room of the Leelanau Government Center from 6-8p on Wednesday, February 28. Come enjoy some pancakes and community while learning about the history of Leelanau county's forests and maple syrup production. Join us on Wednesday, February 21, for a webinar geared towards Women Owning and Appreciating Woodlands (WOAW). You'll learn about resources available to forest landowners, why focus on women landowners is important, and some general forest management tips. Then on Friday, March 8, please join us with our friends at Grand Traverse Conservation District's Boardman River Nature Center for our in-person WOAW workshop. We'll discuss invasive plant management, deer hunting in Michigan, the importance of native plants, and create visual forest management plans. Sign up at the link below!
